Figure 10.7. When we compare the image on left, in figure 6, with one from 4 minutes before, we see that the corona is not covered, but it has shrunk. The earth is not curved enough to produce the darkness seen above the triangle. And, how can several cellulars like parts of the Sun remain visible below the edge of the darkness, if the earth is supposed to be covering them?
The Sun does not seem to have been covered by the Earth at all; it is as if a coronal hole is spreading across the face of the Sun. Notice also how the top coronal hole seems to have grown and spread below the original coronal hole. This clearly indicates that the Sun is going dark, and it is not going dark due to an eclipse but rather due to loss of light emission.
